Berlin based music software company Ableton has recently released their first midi-controller, the Ableton Push. The Push resembles the popular Akai APC-40 as it features a pad heavy interface where users can program loops and “hits” through Abelton’s figurehead software “Ableton Live”. Push was built specifically with Abelton’s new Live software in mind and the developers hope to revolutionize the controller industry by allowing Push to be used without a laptop. Unlike the APC-40, Push gives users the ability to loop directly into the hardware and perform without software. Time will tell if Push is as successful as its Akai counterpart but in the mean time here is an impressive video from Ableton’s website.
