Bumblebees and their implication with the environment
Bumblebees are very important for our environment, like other types of bees, they provide pollination, which is critical to preserve many different plant species, including many crops. It could happen to you that one day you discover that a colony of these little animals have decided to live in the loft of your house, which some people find problematic, especially if anyone at home has a potential allergy to their sting.
Greenway Integrated Pest Management Ltd can remove those bees with the nests intact. They are relocated into green spaces where they are left until they can complete their life cycle and the new queens emerge and hibernate over autumn and winter ready to make a new nest next spring. This will help protect local bumblebee numbers as more nests can complete their natural cycle.
The Great British Bee Swap a new event to save Bumblebees
Greenway I.P.M. is focused on providing a great service while working to reduce its environmental impact. They have developed different techniques towards making all their processes more environmentally conscious. In 2018 they even received a Green Apple Award for recognition of their achievements. They also care about conservation at a local level and want to add value to their community. In 2019 they worked out how to safely move bumble bee nests from peoples lofts and keep the nest viable. However, they soon ran out of space to relocate the bees too. That’s where you come in.
If you would like to offer up your green space as a potential new home for bumblebees Greenway would love to hear from you. Allotments and gardens are best, especially if planted with bee-friendly flowers. If you would like to take part in the 2020 Great British Bee Swap, please visit the official event page here. On this page, you will find all the details about how it works and will be able to sign up to help.
