Spring is in there air, and we are LIVING for it! With summer just around the corner, a lot of people are focusing on getting their beach bodies back—but loving yourself is so much more than loving the way that you look!
Mental and physical wellness go hand in hand, and we’ve put together some tips to help you boost your self-worth and love yourself inside and out.
1) Try New Things
We don’t mean bungee jumping or skydiving—although if you’re up for that, go for it! Something as simple as trading out your mascara for magnetic lashes will give you the ability to play with new looks while achieving a more natural lash look than with typical falsies. While there is a bit of a learning curve with magnetic eyelashes, they’re virtually allergy- and smudge-proof, and are perfect for day wear or a night out.
Applying your magnetic lashes only takes a few simple steps:
- Curl Your Lashes – This will add definition and give your magnetic eyelashes a solid base to stick to.
- Apply Mascara – Applying a light coat to your natural lashes will add volume and help fill in gaps in your eyelashes. (Tip: Never apply mascara to magnetic lashes, as this can ruin them for any future application.)
- Apply Your Magnetic Lashes – This is where the learning curve happens. Using a lash applicator, apply your top lash at your natural lash line, starting at the outer corner and working your way inward. Once it’s in place, apply the second top lash underneath your natural lash. Tiny magnets essentially glue the set of lashes together and secure them in place. If your lashes need adjusting the first time, feel free to try again until they’re comfortable and look like real lashes.
- Repeat On Your Other Eye.
While you’re experimenting with magnetic lashes, try experimenting with other makeup looks, too. Work toward that coveted perfect wing, try a bold lip, or do a blind pick and choose your cosmetics for the day with your eyes shut! This will help you look at your face in a different way, and encourage you to try new things!
2) Take Your Supplements
While some supplements claim to benefit consumers with weight loss and great skin, Calerie understands that change has to happen at a cellular level. Having a well-balanced diet does wonders for your body, but sometimes our cells just need a little jump start. For consumers who work out, practice intermittent fasting, or are on the Keto diet, Calerie’s reviews boast natural results and boosted energy.
3) Meditate
Meditation helps you manage anxiety, depression, and stress. By learning techniques to control your breathing and focus on why you are feeling these negative feelings, you can learn to reduce your reaction to everyday stressors and tune in to your body in a deeper way. Mediation’s results are almost immediate, depending on how consistently you practice, and you’ll even benefit from a better nights’ sleep!
Headspace offers great mediation techniques for beginners if you’re not quite sure where to start. And the only learning curve here is learning what works for you!
4) Unplug
The average person spends 144 minutes per day on social media—a number that will definitely rise now that social distancing has become the new normal. While keeping up with friends and family on a constant basis might make you feel better in the moment, spending too much time on social media can often lead to falling down the compare-and-dispair rabbit hole. Opt for texting or a good ol’ fashioned phone call when you want to reach out to someone, turn off your social media notifications if you’re just too tempted by that little red bubble.
5) Dress For Confidence and Comfort
The clothes you wear on the outside can have an impact on how you feel on the inside. Find clothes that you feel great in that work for you, and don’t be afraid to (all together now…) try new things! People you interact with day to day are far less concerned about what you’re wearing than you are—so make sure you look your best for YOU first. This doesn’t mean you can’t leave your house looking like a 10. Just make sure you’re looking like a 10 in something that makes you feel like an 11.
6) Be Kind
A little kindness goes a long way. It goes without saying that if you treat people the way you want to be treated, you will look at the world through kinder eyes and lift negativity from your chest. Facing people with compassion and an open mind will help you to understand their perspective while giving you the choice to react in a positive manner.
Loving yourself is a package deal. When you learn to love yourself on the inside, you learn to appreciate yourself on the outside—and it goes both ways. Self-worth isn’t only about how you feel, it’s about how you treat yourself—and you should always treat yourself with kindness.
