Dismaland is Now Open, Do You Dare to Go?

Dismaland

The controversial artist Banksy has opened his own amusement park that is his take on a creepy Disneyland. The art exhibit called Dismaland is definitely a terrifying twist on the park that is called the happiest place on earth.

The dark new park, also called a bemusement park, is even complete with workers who get into spooky character. A stone-faced greeter at the gate first greets guests. The greeter has little to say, but still sports Mickey Mouse ears.

Of course before visitors can get through the gate, testy security guards play along and harass them. There is also a sign at the front that says lawyers, spray paint, marker pens and knives are banned. These are just a couple of the many ways the artist takes a jab at the corporate world. After guests finally get through the gate, they are welcomed with a giant creepy castle that sits in murky water right next to a crashed police van.

Dismaland is full of crazy Disney-related things like a crash scene of Cinderella’s coach. There are some actual rides, like one that has visitors navigate small boats in water surrounded by floating bodies. Three different galleries are on display that includes pieces from Banksy, Damien Hirst, Jenny Holzer and more. The exhibit shows off work from over 50 artists from 17 different countries.

Tickets are only $5 dollars. But only 4,000 tickets are sold each day, so tickets are selling out fast. The warped theme park is obviously not for everyone. But if you are looking for a smoky good time, head to Dismaland and enjoy all of the unique works of Banksy.
