SNL’S Most Memorable Music Performances

Arcade Fire

The hit show Saturday Night Live just celebrated 40 years earlier this year. The show is always full of hilarious skits and amazing guests hosts. But their musical performances through out the years have always played a huge part in the show’s long running success. These performances go down as the most memorable acts in the show’s history.

Nirvana
Nirvana first performed on Saturday Night Live in the early 90s and played their hit song Teen Spirit. The rock band returned to the show in 1993 and put on one of their best performances playing their song Rape Me. Basketball star Charles Barkley was the host that evening and he has even said that Nirvana’s performance was one of the best on SNL.

Dr. Dre & Eminem
Dr. Dre appeared on Saturday Night Live in 1999 and he brought along special guest Eminem. The rapper took the stage just a few weeks before his highly anticipated album 2001 hit shelves. This performance was a big deal because his new album was the first material he has released in 7 years and performing on SNL was a great way to promote it. His protégé, Eminem, joined him in performing his now classic song, Forgot About Dre.

Arcade Fire
Arcade Fire put on quite the show on Saturday Night Live in 2013. The stage was covered in musical instruments along with a ton of glitter. The whole band wore white and performed their poppy song Afterlife. The crowd loved it and the entire stage was rocking out. The number of musicians on the stage that night was absolutely electrifying and they all put on an awesome show.

Kanye West
Back in 2014, Ben Affleck hosted the 38th season finale of Saturday Night Live and praised Kanye West both times before he took the stage. West performed his song Black Skinhead and held nothing back. Visuals flashed behind the singer as he delivered an emotional and an awestruck performance.
