5 Great Ideas for Your Next Employee Team Social Event

Your huge project is finally done.  The team worked as a team and put in that extra oomph.  So how do you reward them? One option is to give all of them the day off to have a blast with the no deposit codes Fair Go casino.  But if that is not your style, here are some other ideas to consider:

Paint Ball

Nothing equals rewarding teamwork than giving them the opportunity to work together to all fire paintballs at the boss with no worry about repercussions.  Sweet revenge at its best.

Paintball is a competitive team shooting sport in which players eliminate opponents from play by hitting them with spherical dye-filled capsules (“paintballs”) that break upon impact.  Paintballs are usually shot using a low-energy air weapon called a paintball marker that is powered by compressed air.

Games can be played on indoor or outdoor fields of varying sizes.  A game field is scattered with natural or artificial terrain, which players use for tactical cover.  Game types and goals vary, but may include capture the flag, elimination, defending or attacking a particular point or area, or capturing objects of interest hidden in the playing area.  Depending on the variant played, games can last from minutes to hours or even days in “scenario play”.

If you want to make it a family event, check out the age limits for the particular site you are interested in.   Generally, the age recommendation is a starting age of 12 – 14, but some may have limits of 18 and above.

Laser Tag

Laser tag is a tag game played with guns that fire infrared beams.  Infrared sensitive targets are commonly worn by each player and are sometimes integrated within the area in which the game is played.  Laser tag has evolved into booth indoor and outdoor styles of play and may include simulation of combat, role play-style game, or competitive sporting events including tactical configurations and precise game goals.  As with paintball, the games can last from minutes to hours or even days.

If you are interested in making this a family event, the good news is the age limit is much lower than with paintball.  Maybe places have an age limit of 8. But some indoor places have an interesting configuration that includes a balcony.  In the balcony area, the shooters shoot down at the players in on the main level.

In the places that have this option that I know of, the age limit of the balcony area can be as low as 4 – 6 to years of age.  It may also be a more appropriate option for pregnant women and employees who are with very young children (aka, children in strollers). The balconies are also a viewing area.

Escape Room or Escape Game

An escape room or escape game is a game in which a team of players cooperatively discover clues, solve puzzles, and accomplish tasks in one or more rooms in order to progress and accomplish a specific goal in a limited amount of time.  Usually, the escape rooms have an overarching theme. Some even have costumes for the players to dress up in.

Here are some examples of themes:

  • Escape from a Soviet Prison
  • Escape from a Medieval Castle
  • Secret of the Giant
  • Million Dollar Escape
  • Strange Case (Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde)
  • Moonshine Room (1930s Prohibition Scene)
  • Puzzle Quest

There are even outdoor escape room activities where the players travel through real historical sites and cities solving clues and riddles in order to reach the final destination.  One can say it is a combination of an escape game and a tourist tour combined into one fun-filled activity.

Arcade Party from TNT Amusements

TNT Amusements is a company in Pennsylvania that buys and sells old style video games, pinball machines, and jukeboxes.  But their showroom is more than the showroom. TNT Amusements also allows groups to rent out their showroom for parties.

Each party gets almost 70 different arcade style video games, pinball machines, driving and skill games, along with a jukebox.  All of the games are free (no coins or tokens required). So the players can have fun continuous play.

The location is air-conditioned and only one party rents the facility at a time.

They also have an additional room with a kitchen, microwave oven, a refrigerator with a large freezer and tables and chairs.  There is also an attendant to address all of your serving needs. The food can also be served buffet style, and TNT Amusements also has partnerships with 3 local pizza shops that will deliver pizza to your party.  But unlike other places, if you want to bring your own food, you can.

Small groups can rent the location Monday – Friday.

Large party prices reflect a maximum of 40 adults (16 and above) for one party.  For a children’s party, it is a recommended maximum of 25 children and 15 adults.  The facility holds a maximum of 50 people.

Water Park Party

Who doesn’t love playing in the water, young and old alike?  But there are more options than just the large parks like Great Adventure.  Many communities now have small waterparks that might be the right choice for your “stayed indoors for too long” team that needs a break that includes fun and fresh air.  But if your party is in the middle of the winter, there are even water parks in indoor locations.

Water slides are always a feature hit at these places.  Some have short ones and some have long ones.

A lazy river is a shallow pool of 2 ½ to 3 feet deep pool that flows similar to a river.  There is generally a slow current to allow guests to ride along on floating tubes and rafts.  There are usually scenic designs as you float along the river, as well as waterfalls and other water flowing obstacles.

Wave pools are pools where waves are artificially created.  Body surfing anyone?

Zero depth pools are pools that start at zero depth and then slowly increase in depth, so people who have special needs or small children can also enjoy the water.  But many guests just like to put their chairs in the water and just relax while splashing their feet.

And any real water park (at least by my definition) cannot call itself a water park without including the traditional sand, water, and full accompaniment of sandcastle making stuff.

Summary

When choosing an activity to reward your team, provide stress relief, and provide a reward, at the end of the day, it should be fun and promote casual team togetherness beyond the walls of the office.
